This month was Artists in Action at one of the local galleries in my town of Ellensburg,WA, Gallery One. All month they have had artists come in to work throughout the day, culminating in a 24 hr create-a-thon and their Paint Ellensburg auction and dinner. I came in to paint in the evening during the First Friday art walk, and then later in the month I came in for the 24 hr create-a-thon, which only ended up being 18 hrs. It was very fun, especially meeting other local artists, and getting delirious in the wee hours of the morning. The auction was good fun too, even better after spending 18 hours with other artists until that morning, and then seeing them all at the auction. I had 2 pieces in the auction, and both had about 4 or so bids and sold, so I am happy!
I also ended up winning a painting that looks like Van Gogh’s sunflowers. It’s very bright and cheerful. and reminds me of a Van Gogh print that hung in my family’s dining room when I was a kid, where we always had dinner together.
Besides artists in action, I have been working on my coloring book. I’m in the final stages, I have one more page to edit, and then just need to choose the order of the pages and which images to display on the back cover, create a copyright page, and have my brother, Jared, help me make the cover and format everything to be uploaded to the createspace platform. Then I need to have it copyrighted, and then upload it to createspace. Then I can have a proof sent to me to make sure everything looks good. Then make any necessary tweaks. When there are no more tweaks to be made, I can release it on Amazon, and also put it in local shops. I am hoping to get it finished in time for the holidays, but we’ll see! It’s kind of pushing it with time, but who knows!
Another thing I am doing is I’ll be making 20-30 bracelets out of up-cycled men’s ties to put in Gallery One for the holidays. Those need to be in by the end of October.
And, around the 24th or 25th of November, I’ll be participating in a holiday sale at McIntosh Ranch, where I will have more tie bracelets, tie skirts, and paintings.
So…. I better get busy!
Until next time!
